Some people believe that in order to have body confidence and positive self image you must thin, fit and muscular.

Truth is that being confident in yourself and having a positive self image is important when you are starting out on any positive change such as a weight loss program.

You withhold good feelings towards yourself thinking this is necessary for you to create change, but truth is you’re only creating more of the problem and struggles you are experiencing.

Here are some tips you can consider to help you to move you towards a positive self image:

1. You are more than how you look. You are a whole person with an internal world of thoughts, feelings and emotions.

2. In order to change the external world of how you look you must start with the internal world.

3. You are worthy and valuable human being and deserving of love and happiness.

4. Losing weight isn’t a magical cure for everything that is wrong in your life.

5. People judge each other based on physical qualities in a superficial way, but most of this comes from their own insecurities about themselves.

6. If you judge yourself harshly then the biggest bully you know is you. It’s your insecurities speaking.

7. Your thoughts about yourself (and the words you say to yourself) directly affect your feelings and your actions.

8. Your emotions are valuable in navigating you on your journey through your life. They tell you when you are moving towards what you want or away from what you want. Use them in this way.

9. Feelings are meant to be felt, not fed. If you try to feed feelings you’ll only stack other feelings on top of them like guilt and you’ll have to deal with those negative feelings as well.

10. Some days you’re going to feel bad about yourself and your body. This is normal and natural – even Beyonce has days like this. We’re all human!

11. Affirming to yourself that you are valuable, deserving and lovable just as you are will create a powerful force for change.

12. Change is a process and a journey and happens with every moment you choose to think and feel differently about yourself.

13. A mirror is a reflection of how you feel about yourself so use it to learn and grow.

14. Look at yourself in the mirror, directly in the eyes and say: “I love and accept myself just as I am.” Say it with warmth even if you don’t believe it – the belief will follow the action.

15. Acceptance doesn’t mean approval, it means I am ME – and everything that means – even if you have improvements and changes you want to make (this is a positive thing after all!)

16. Acceptance gives you empowerment to make positive changes by taking responsibility for the change.

17. You are responsible for making this positive change. You and only you can do this with your decision, desire and determination.

18. Quick fix diets are just that – fixing something quickly but the results will be fixed quick as well.

19. You get the results you put into something. So if you’re wanting to make permanent then be prepared to make the effort.

20. Effort does not mean hard work. It’s what you do consistently that matters. Doing a little bit every day will make a huge difference in the long term.

For me doing a 90 Day Challenge allows me to focus on a specific goal and add additional challenges every 90 days to accomplish more or fine tune what I did or did not do and apply that to my next 90 day challenge. Contact me to learn more. 646-403-8002
